Two massive skinny dips are taking place in Wales this summer

The Great British Skinny Dip  returns to the UK this summer - and there are two events in Wales.

Now in its fourth year, the Great British Skinny Dip is a campaign from British Naturism to raise awareness of the health benefits of nudity.

Even today, nudity can be considered taboo but studies have shown that spending time naked can make us happier.

Participation in naturism is on the rise with British Naturism reporting a 5% increase in membership and a 10% increase in new members. Swimming pools all around the country are hired for nude swimming sessions every week and they are hugely popular.

The events organised for Wales so far as part of the 2019 Great British Skinny Dip are at Traeth Mawr in Monknash, near Llantwit Major on Saturday, July 6 (noon to 7pm) and at Morfa Dyffryn in Barmouth on Saturday, August 17 (9am to 9pm).

Spokesman Andrew Welch said they were expecting large numbers of people, into the hundreds, to turn up for the sessions.

He said: "People who regularly shed their clothes know that the benefits include improved well-being, reduced stress and an increase in body confidence. It’s also liberating and a lot of fun.

"Millions of people worldwide have discovered this simple antidote to the stresses of modern life and we want to encourage more people to experience it."

The Great Skinny Dip proved popular when it organised previous events in Wales.
