Two Manchester United players named in England squad for Nations League finals

Two Manchester United players have been called up to the England national team for this summer's Nations League finals in Portugal this summer.

Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard will both join up with the England squad next week before travelling out for England's two games.

However, United's player of the season, Luke Shaw, hasn't made the squad and England manager Gareth Southgate explained the admission.

"I think Ben Chilwell and Danny Rose have been excellent. They're ahead and have played particularly well. They've given everything for the England shirt," he said.

Lingard has been a regular for Southgate and retained his place in the side despite a poor end to the season.

Southgate said: "He would be the first to say he has a difficult end of the season and has an opportunity now to put it behind him."

England play the Netherlands in the semi-final clash on Thursday, June 6, at the Estadio D. Alfonso Henriques in Guimaraes, in what will be the first competitive meeting between the two countries since England's famous 4-2 victory in Euro '96.

England will be hoping to continue their fine form after an impressive start to their Euro 2020 campaign with a victory over the Dutch to make the Nations League final.

Should they lose they would instead play in the third placed play-off instead.
