Two Manchester United hot prospects to look out for in this weekend's Championship action

With the Championship season getting underway at the weekend, Manchester United supporters will be intrigued to see if any youngsters will be performing in the opening games of the season.

United have a history of allowing some of their youngsters go out on loan in English football’s second tier, and here are two players to look out for this weekend...

1. Di’Shon Bernard – Hull City

South London born Bernard was one of United’s standout academy players last year.

In the 20/21 season, the centre-back scored two goals and provided two assists in 35 games at youth level.

Bernard has already made his senior debut for Manchester United. in a Europa League tie against Astana of Kazakhstan back in 2019.

After signing for Hull City on a season-long loan, he is someone that could excel in the Championship this season and it portrays how exciting a player he can be.

Going into a senior back four at such a young age will be a big challenge, and he will get a chance to show what he can do in the Tigers' visit to Preston North End for Saturday's 3pm kick off.

2. Tahith Chong – Birmingham City

Chong will be an intriguing watch for many United supporters this weekend.

Despite going out on loan to Werder Bremen and Club Brugge last season, Chong's progression has not match the considerable hype that was built around him during his sensational run with the academy.

Last season Chong scored two goals and assisted on seven occasions in 28 appearances across those loan spells in Germany and Belgium, and he will be hoping to kickstart his senior career in English football with some positive performances in a Birmingham City shirt.

A close dribbler, Chong plays on the right-hand side of a front three and possesses and ability to go down the flanks with his preferred right foot.

The Dutch winger may be in action at Bramall Lane against Sheffield United in Saturday's 8pm kick off, which will be shown live on Sky Sports in the UK.
