Two Man City players set for Championship loans for next season

Manchester City pair Matt Smith and Jack Harrison are set for loan move to the Championship this summer.

Harrison joined up with Marcelo Bielsa's squad at Leeds last season as the Yorkshire club pushed for promotion before being defeated by Derby County in the play-off semi-finals. The 22-year-old is expected to return to Elland Road for another season, and could join in time to feature on the Championship club's pre-season tour where they take on United, whose academy Harrison left to move to the United States back in 2010.

He could come up against Smith when Leeds take on QPR as the City academy product is set for a move to the West London club. After impressing in the youth teams at the Etihad, the versatile midfielder went to Dutch side FC Twente where he played an important role in their promotion back to the Eredivisie.

Anderlecht assistant Simon Davies had spoken of an interest in taking Smith to Belgium for the year. However, it was set out at Vincent Kompany's unveiling as player-manager that the club are expecting to play with five players from their academy and a move to QPR looks more likely for Smith.

As well as Harrison, City also had Tosin Adarabioyo in the Championship last season - the defender was part of West Brom's push for promotion - and Aro Muric could head to Nottingham Forest.
