Two lucky Irish EuroMillions players scoop €169,024 each

Tuesday night’s Euromillions draw saw two players in Cork and Galway scoop a prize of €169,024, each matching five numbers and one lucky star.

Both players were just one lucky star number away from winning the life-changing €17 million jackpot on offer.

Tuesday night' s winning numbers were: 02, 11, 26, 36, 47 and lucky stars 07, 09.

The Galway winner purchased their Quick pick ticket on June 8 in the Daybreak store at MAF Service station on St. Brendan’s Road, Portumna.

The shop owners Mark Finn and his wife Anne were delighted to hear that one of their customers was waking up to fantastic news.

The couple who have owned the shop for 11 years said, “This is the largest winning ticket that we have ever sold, so we're over the moon.

“It's great news for the town as well – we have quite a lot of local customers, so I'm sure there will be a few people busy checking their numbers when they find out that we sold the winning ticket.

“It's a lovely time to win as we get into summer and lockdown eases, so hopefully, the lucky winner will get to enjoy their new fortune shortly."

The lucky winning ticket in Cork was sold in Foley’s Foodstore, Ballydaheen on the Cork Road in Mallow.

Shop owner Elaine Foley said: “It’s great news to hear that we sold a winning EuroMillions ticket.

“We have lots of local customers who come into us regularly, so I'm sure there will be great excitement when the news gets out that our shop sold the winning Cork ticket.

"There will be lots of people eager to check their tickets!"

The two winners from Galway and Cork were not the only ones with a lucky ticket as a Dublin player also joined the roll call of big winners.

Having matched five numbers, the lucky player won €39,504.

The Dublin ticket was sold in the Londis shop on Fassaugh Avenue, Cabra West, Dublin 7.

As there was no winner of last nights draw, Friday’s jackpot is expected to roll on to a massive €30 million.
