Two London teenagers charged with assaulting police officer and breaking coronavirus lockdown rules

Two teenagers have been charged with assaulting a police officer and breaching coronavirus lockdown rules on public gatherings.

Officers from the Metropolitan Police were on patrol in a residential street in Brixton, south London on Friday when the incident is said to have occurred.

A 17-year-old boy was later charged with criminal damage, assault on an emergency worker and obstructing a police constable.

Jamar Jackman, a 19-year old from Brixton, was also charged with two counts of assault on an emergency worker and one count of obstructing a police constable.

Both teenagers were later charged with contravening a requirement to not participate in a gathering in public of more than two people under the Coronavirus Regulations 2020.

They were both remanded into custody and will appear at Croydon Magistrates' Court on April 13.
