Two Leeds United players named in Championship Team of the Season as Marcelo Bielsa is overlooked

Leeds United have had two players named in the Championship’s team of the year for 2018/19, but been overlooked for any individual awards.

The shortlists for most of the categories at EFL Awards 2019 have been announced with no Whites representation in the shortlist for Championship Player of the Season.

While Marcelo Bielsa has also missed out on the manager’s award, he has seen captain Liam Cooper and midfielder Kalvin Phillips make the cut for Team of the Season.

All 24 bosses in the second tier were asked to vote for their player of the season, with those votes also used to put together the best XI.

Three of the division’s highest scorers have made the shortlist for the coveted player award: Che Adams (Birmingham City), Teemu Pukki (Norwich City) and Billy Sharp (Sheffield United).

All three were also included in the best XI alongside Cooper and Phillips with Darren Randolph (Middlesbrough), Jamal Lewis (Norwich), Reece James (Wigan Athletic), Max Aarons (Norwich), Oliver Norwood (Sheffield United) and Jarrod Bowen (Hull City).

Chris Wilder got the nod for the division’s best manager after taking the Blades to second place with eight games to go.

The award winners will be announced at a ceremony on April 7 at Grosvenor House Hotel in Park Lane, London.
