Two lanes of the M1 in Nottinghamshire closed - after lorry ran out of fuel

Two lanes were blocked on the M1 because a lorry ran out of fuel.

The incident happened on the northbound carriageway of the motorway between junction 27 near Newstead and junction 28 near Kirkby-in-Ashfield.

Traffic officers were called to the scene.

Posting an update about the incident at 5.46am, Highways England officials tweeted: "Vehicle has now been recovered where it can be refuelled and restarted in a safe place. All lane closures have now been removed."

Earlier at 5.24am, Highways England tweeted a picture of the lorry and said lanes one and two were blocked.

A Derbyshire police spokeswoman said Highways England called the force about the incident at 4.20am about the incident.
