Two kittens used up their share of nine lives after they became trapped under production line machinery at Liverpool's Jaguar Land Rover plant.
Staff alerted the RSPCA after hearing the frantic felines mewing under the Halewood plant's manufacturing machinery in the engine press shop last Wednesday (Feb 12).
Animal Welfare Officer (AWO) Matt Brown was sent to the scene and could see the two kittens scurrying around under the machinery but he was unable to safely capture them.
He left a basket trap underneath the production line and staff were told to contact him when the feral kittens had found their way safely inside.
The next day the RSPCA were called again to collect the frightened female and male kittens - who were named William and Lyons after the founder of Jaguar Cars Limited.
Both were taken to the RSPCA's Greater Manchester Animal Hospital for treatment for cat flu. They have now been moved to an isolation unit at the Halifax branch of the RSPCA.
A trap has now been left under the manufacturing line for the kittens' mum and it is hoped she will also be safely collected soon.
Matt said: "The kittens were seen scurrying around and obviously staff were worried they may get trapped in the machinery. There was no way I could get to them so we had to safely trap them.
"I am pleased they are getting the veterinary care they need and hopefully we will be able to re-united them with their mum soon too."
