Two kitesurfers rescued by emergency services after coming into difficulty on popular Dublin beach

Two kitesurfers were rescued by emergency services on Wednesday evening after coming into difficulty at a popular Dublin beach.

Emergency services in Howth made their way to Burrow Beach at around 2pm after the pair were reported missing.

A concerned passer-by in the area made the call informing Howth RNLI and Resuce 116.

The crew managed to arrive within minutes of the initial contact being made.

Thankfully, the two kitesurfers made their way ashore and were found safe and well following the ordeal.

The emergency services were praised by locals following their quick reaction to the missing report.

One local said: "Well done Rescue 116. To one and all glad all is safe and sound. God bless you all in your next line of duty my friends and take care fly high."

Another added: "Well done yet again. Saw you flying over and hoped for a happy outcome on such a windy afternoon."

A third commented: "You guys are simply amazing. Glad to hear everyone is okay."

The Coast Guard reminded people to "dial 112/999 and ask for the Coast Guard if you see someone in trouble on the water, beach or cliffs."
