Two killed in separate incidents in Patna

PATNA: Two men were shot dead in separate incidents at Naubatpur and Gaurichak in the district in the past 24 hours.

A 30-year-old man, Guddu Kumar, was murdered near Malahi Khandha School under Naubatpur police station area. The incident took place on the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday when Guddu was sleeping outside his house. His family members spotted the bullet-ridden body near his autorickshaw in the morning.

Naubatpur SHO Samrat Deepak said they are yet to ascertain the motive behind the murder. “Guddu was shot in his head. No empty cartridge was recovered from the spot,” he said.

The victim’s brother, Sunil Kumar, alleged that Guddu was murdered by his in-laws because of a dispute. Guddu’s wife also blamed her in-laws for his death. The couple had got married in 2016.

Ranjeet Kumar, SI at Naubatpur police station, told TOI that no written complaint was lodged by the family members.

In the second incident, 19-year-old Nitish Kumar was allegedly killed by his cousin over a family feud at Lakshmi Tola under Gaurichak police station area on Tuesday morning. Nitish was shot twice in his head and died on the spot. The accused, Ranjit Kumar, is absconding. SHO Lal Mani Dubey said Nitish was working in a field near his home when Ranjit reached there with his friends and picked a fight. “Ranjit was jailed for killing his wife four years ago. He was released only a few months back. He did not have an arms licence. Based on the statement of the victim’s family, police are conducting raids to nab him,” Dubey said.
