Two children have been identified and spoken to by the police following a deliberate fire in a Scots flat over the weekend.
Aged 10 and 11-years-old, they have been spoken following the incident on Saturday, January 22.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) rushed to the scene at Rowan Terrace in Blackburn at around 5.40pm that same evening.
Lee-Ann Davis, 40, had been sitting in the bedroom of her top-floor flat when she began to smell smoke from within the property.
After going down to investigate what it was, the mum-of-four discovered flames licking through the air vent in the kitchen of the flat.
Lee-Ann had originally tried to escape through the front door but found that the exit blocked with items deliberately set alight.
Forced to lay on her son's bedroom floor, she eventually managed to escape physically unharmed and along with all of her pets.
The 40-year-old was assessed at the scene by an ambulance and treated for smoke inhalation but refusing to go to hospital as she wanted to be with her pets and family.
An SFRS spokesperson previously said: “We were made aware of a fire at a property on Rowan Terrace in Blackburn around 5.40pm on Saturday, 22 January.
“The fire was extinguished by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service. A neighbouring property was also evacuated.
“The fire is being treated as deliberate and officers are following a positive line of enquiry.”
Lee-Ann has now been left with nothing but the clothes on her back and is trying to come to terms with what has happened.
The flat has been destroyed and she and her 19-year-old son are now homeless and currently staying with family members.
A fundraiser has been launched to help support the Davis family rebuild their lives.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Two children, aged 10 and 11, have been identified and spoken to by officers under the ACRA (Age of Criminal Responsibility) legislation following a fire at a property on Rowan Terrace in Blackburn which was reported around 5.40pm on Saturday, 22 January.
“The fire was extinguished by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and a 40-year-old woman was assessed at the scene by the Scottish Ambulance Service.”
