Two kids charged with arson after fire on remote Manitoba First Nation

GARDEN HILL FIRST NATION, Man. — Manitoba RCMP have charged two kids with arson after a fire on a remote northern Manitoba First Nation.

An RCMP officer patrolling the Garden Hill First Nation on Monday morning came across a fire at the band office, which was under construction and unoccupied.

Mounties say the officer heard voices and went into the burning building to find a boy.

He got the boy out of the building and found another had already made it out safely on his own.

A 12-year-old boy and 13-year-old boy have been charged with arson and released from custody.

Garden Hill First Nation is about 800 kilometres north of Winnipeg.
