Two schools in Kerry have been forced to send students home after pupils tested positive for Covid-19.
The first case, which was in a primary school, saw two classes sent home after a student tested positive for the virus.
The pupil who tested positive had a sibling in another class, of whom they were in close contact.
A short time later, a secondary school in the area also sent students home after a positive Covid-19 case was discovered.
It is understood that this case is also linked to the primary school which closed earlier on Thursday.
Anyone who was "in the bubble" of the student in question was sent home, in line with public health advice.
There is one further suspected case in that school.
Its principal told The Kerryman: "Cleaning and fogging has been carried out.
"No further action is required at this point.
"The HSE will contact the families directly [in relation to school attendance by pupils in the coming days], but the students from the bubble in which there is a confirmed case will remain at home."
