Donald Trump might steal the headlines — but voters say he's not the only thing on their minds

The economy, healthcare costs and President Donald Trump are top of mind for many Americans as they head to the polls for Tuesday's midterm elections.

With a number of tight House races, the issues where the parties are split might be most telling.

Two subjects on Republicans' minds — immigration and taxation — also frequently star in Mr Trump's Twitter feed, whereas climate change, which sits as third most important to Democrats, barely rates a mention at last place for Republicans.

It's worth noting the US Studies Centre poll was conducted in early October, so there's a chance things have shifted in the past few weeks, which saw a mass shooting fuelled by anti-Semitism and an increase in vitriolic immigration rhetoric.
