Two injured in serious crash in Hartcliffe

Two motorists were taken to hospital after a serious crash in Hartcliffe on Saturday afternoon.

The crash happened at around 3pm at the junction of Bishport Avenue, Hareclive Road and Hawkridge Road, and from all three emergency services.

A woman had to be cut free from the wreckage of her car, after suffering back injuries.

Firefighters from across Bristol rushed to the scene, along with a number of ambulances.

Police officers closed the road and there were unconfirmed reports from eyewitnesses that the Great Western Air Ambulance attended.

Local residents reported the crash involved three vehicles, a red BMW, a black Peugeot and a white 4x4, although a spokesperson for Avon and Somerset police said the police officers at the scene logged it as a two-car collision.

A man in the BMW suffered head injuries, while a woman in the dark-coloured Peugeot suffered back injuries.

She had to be cut free from her car by firefighters, and police closed the road for around two hours while that operation took place, and collision investigators combed the scene.

“A man suffered head injuries in the collision, and a woman suffered back injuries,” said a spokesperson for Avon and Somerset police.

“The two people injured came from the two cars involved, but were not reported as having life-threatening or life-changing injuries,” he added.
