Two injured in scaffolding collapse in East Belfast

Two men have been hospitalised after scaffolding collapsed at a property in East Belfast.

The incident happened shortly after 9.30am and the injured were given emergency first aid at the scene before being transported to hospital.

It is understood they were working on a property when the scaffolding shifted and collapsed.

The air ambulance was tasked to the scene and it is understood both of the injured were taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast by road ambulance.

A spokesperson for the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service said: "We received a 999 call at 9.46am following reports of a scaffolding collapse incident at Ascot Park, Knock, Belfast.

"NIAS despatched two emergency crews, two Hazardous Area Response Team officers and one officer to the scene.

"The Charity Air Ambulance with HEMS crew on board were also tasked to the incident.

"Following assessment and initial treatment at the scene, two patients were transported by ambulance to the Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast."
