Two injured after fights breaks out outside nightclub in early hours as police cordon off road

Two men were left injured after a fight broke out on a busy street in Manchester city centre.

Violent scenes broke out on Whitworth Street West at around 2.30am this morning (Sunday). Police officers were called to the scene.

One man was left with serious, but not life-threatening injuries, police said. Another man suffered minor injuries.

This morning, a stretch of the road was taped off by officers. The cordon was in place outside Vision nightclub and a taxi rank.

An investigation into the incident is now underway. Anyone who witnessed the fight is being urged to come forward.

In a statement, a GMP spokesperson said: "At around 2.30am this morning (Sunday 11 June 2023) officers were called to reports of a fight in Whitworth Street West, Manchester. One man received serious injuries, not believed to be life-threatening.

"Another man received minor injuries, not believed to be life-threatening. Officers are currently investigating the circumstances and enquiries are ongoing.

"Anyone who witnessed the incident or was around the scene at the time are asked to contact police on 101, quoting log number 515 of 11/6/23. Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
