Two injured after being attacked by burglars during break-in in Cork city

Gardai are on the hunt for two individuals who physically attacked occupants of a house in Cork.

The men forced their way into a home in Cork city and proceeded to set upon and attack the occupants during what investigating gardaí have described as an aggravated burglary.

The men illegally entered into the home in the College Road area on Sunday night, and it is understood that they then turned on two people there, who are occupants of the house, Cork Beo reports.

Reports to gardaí revealed that the victims were charged to the ground and punched, before the duo made their escape not long before gardai arrived to the house in Cork city.

A full investigation is now underway as gardaí look to hunt down the two perpetrators. So far there have been no arrests made.

A garda spokesperson spoke of the incident and confirmed that a full investigation is now underway.

They said: "Gardaí are investigating an aggravated burglary that occurred in the College Road area, Cork on Sunday afternoon, 2nd July 2023.

"Two occupants of the residence were injured during the course of the incident.

"No arrests have been made at this time and investigations are ongoing."
