Two in hospital after two-car smash: firefighters free occupant from wreckage

Two people have been taken to hospital after a nasty head-on crash on a main south Canberra road.

Emergency services raced to the scene after reports of a two-car collision on Adelaide Avenue about 5.15pm on Saturday, June 27.

Firefighters had to cut free an occupant of one of the vehicles involved.

Two people were taken to hospital. Their condition is unknown.

Police remain at the scene.

City-bound lanes of Adelaide Avenue near Yarralumla remain closed at 6.30pm.

The community is asked to avoid the area.
