Two in hospital after six-vehicle crash at Adamstown

Emergency crews clearing the scene just before lunch time on Tuesday.

Two people have been taken to hospital after a crash involving six vehicles at a busy Adamstown intersection on Tuesday morning.

Police said emergency crews were called to the corner of Glebe and Brunker roads about 10.15am after reports of the pile-up.

One person was trapped in their vehicle for a short time before being freed.

That person and one other have been taken to John Hunter Hospital.

The nature of their injuries had not been confirmed at the time of publication.

Four other people involved in the crash were treated at the scene by paramedics.

Emergency crews were working to clear the roads surrounding the incident - which remained closed - just before 11am.

Police are urging motorists to avoid the area.

"This incident had the potential to cause serious injury to these occupants, thankfully they didn't suffer any life-threatening injuries," NSW Ambulance Inspector James Duffy said.

"We must remain attentive and alert to our surroundings when driving any type of motor vehicle."
