Two people have been rushed to hospital after a horror crash between a lorry and a car near the busy M8 motorway.
The incident happened around 12.35pm today, reports the Daily Record, at the Shawhead Flyover at Bellshill.
A woman was taken by ambulance to Monklands Hospital in Lanarkshire while an injured man was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow.
Emergency services closed the road off, causing tailbacks at the junction.
A Police Scotland spokesman confirmed: “Around 12.35pm on Thursday, 10 September, 2020, we received a report of a serious crash involving a car and a lorry on the Shawhead Flyover at North Road in Bellshill.
“Emergency services attended and a woman was taken by ambulance to University Hospital Monklands and a man was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment.
“Enquiries are ongoing.
"Anyone who witnessed the crash or who has any information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting incident 1319 of 10 September, 2020."
