Two in hospital after firefighters cut them free from cars in serious crash on A555 Airport relief road

Two people were taken to hospital after a crash on the A555 in Stockport.

Two cars collided on the airport relief road at around 2.40am on Sunday.

Firefighters cut two people free from one of the vehicles.

The casualties were then taken to hospital via ambulance.

A photograph shows one of the crashed vehicles on the central reservation.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were called at about 2.40am.

"Fire engines from Cheadle, Wilmslow and a technical response unit from Ashton attended an RTC on the A555 in Stockport.

"Cutting equipment and hose reel was used at the scene.

"Two people were removed from a vehicle and taken to hospital by the North West Ambulance Service."
