Two in five people working from home say they will never return to the office - poll

Nearly two in five people working from home say that they will never return to the office, according to a new poll.

A YouGov survey conducted this week on behalf of The Times found that 71 per cent of people preferred working from home.

Meanwhile more than half - 58 per cent - said they believed they were more productive at home.

The polling found that 63 per cent of workers were working remotely, with 39 per cent saying that they would work from home for good.

The Times reports that only 9 per cent of people have returned to their desks permanently since the government advice to work from home was dropped last Thursday, while 26 per cent have returned part time.

It demonstrates the scale of the challenge ahead for ministers keen to end the working-from-home culture over concerns about city centre businesses.

The Government approach looks to be at odds with voters - with 74 per cent of Conservative supporters preferring to work from home according to the poll, while Labour voters are as likely as Conservatives to prefer to work from home.
