14yo girl among two in custody over shooting death of Hobart father

A 14-year-old girl is one of two people in custody over the shooting death of 22-year-old Jarrod Leigh Turner, whose body was found on the side of a road in Richmond on the weekend, police say.

A 29-year-old Moonah man was also taken into custody.

Detective Inspector Doug Rossiter said no-one had been charged over the incident, but that investigations were continuing.

"We believe that there are … people in the community who know what happened to Jarrod and we encourage them to come forward and speak with police at the earliest opportunity," he said.

The body of Mr Turner, a father of two, was found in the early hours of Sunday morning on the side of Colebrook Road, 2 kilometres north of Richmond, near Hobart.

Three busloads of police recruits were brought in to search the scene where his body was found on Monday.

An autopsy was due to be carried out earlier this week.
