Two hurt when fire breaks out in senior housing building in Lincoln Park

Two people were hurt when fire broke out at an apartment building for seniors in Lincoln Park Tuesday morning.

The fire started in a sixth-floor apartment at the Edith Spurlock Sampson building at 2640 N. Sheffield Avenue, according to the Chicago Fire Department.

Two people on the sixth floor were taken to a hospital in good condition. Several other elderly residents were evaluated on the scene.

The fire was contained to one apartment. The cause was under investigation.
