Man rushed to hospital after bus crashes into car outside school in West Lothian

Two people have reportedly been hurt after a bus crashed into a car outside a school in West Lothian .

Emergency services rushed to the scene of the smash on Armadale's West Main Street just after 8am on Friday November 22.

Scottish fire and rescue sent three appliances and a heavy rescue unit to collision, which took place just outside Armadale Academy.

A man in his 20s was taken to Wishaw General. His condition is unknown.

It is believed the bus was empty at the time and on the way to collect children at St Kentigern's Academy in Blackburn.

Police Scotland tweeted that the road has been closed while they deal with the crash.

They posted: "A89 closed at Armadale Police Station and along full stretch from Blackridge. This is due to a road traffic collision. Thank you for your patience."

A Scottish Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: "We were called to the scene of a collision between a bus and a car outside Armadale Academy at 8.01am.

"Thee appliances and a heavy rescue unit were mobilised."

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Police were called around 8am m on Friday 22 November 2019, following reports of a 2 vehicle RTC involving a car and a bus on the A89, Armadale. The road was briefly closed and has now re-opened.

"There are no serious injuries."

A Scottish Ambulance Service said: "“We received a call today at 0756 hours to attend an incident on West Main Street. We dispatched a rapid response unit and an ambulance to the scene.

"We transported one male patient in their 20s to Wishaw General.”
