Two house explosions in same town 3 miles apart in less than 24 hours

Explosions rocked two homes in the same town within the space of 24 hours.

The first blast took place in Bradford Road, Huddersfield, at around 1am on Wednesday, followed by another one in Dearne Fold at around 11.34pm.

Police suspect the second incident is a case of arson, although the cause of the first blast is not yet clear.

One resident said they thought a 'bomb' had gone off when they heard an explosion in Bradford Road.

Daniel Akers, who lives near the scene, told YorkshireLive: "I was just dropping off and it woke me up as it was a huge bang. I checked the clock at the time and was surprised as it was exactly 1am.

"The clock saying exactly 1:00 added to the weirdness of it all, I assumed it was the chemical factory!"
