Two hospitalised in Cathcart Road crash

Two people were rushed to hospital after a crash on Cathcart Road involving two vehicles.

The road, in the south side of Glasgow, was closed between Caledonia Road and Aitkenhead Road following the incident last night.

The condition of the two taken to hospital is at this stage unknown.

Cathcart Road re-opened around two hours after the crash.

A Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed: "There was a road crash involving two vehicles.

"It was about 9.25pm when police were made aware.

"Emergency services attended and two people were taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital."

Glasgow City Council's Traffic Control and Management team (TRAFFCOM) had earlier confirmed the road closure, stating at 10.22pm: "Cathcart Road is current closed to all traffic between Caledonia Road and Aikenhead Road due to an earlier road traffic collision.

"Emergency services are currently on site and road users should consider alternate routes."

It was advised at 11.22pm the road had re-opened.
