Two hospitalised and three arrested following incident in Dublin City Centre

Two men have been hospitalised and three have been arrested following an attack in Dublin city centre.

Gardai are investigating after two men were rushed to hospital after the incident in Capel St at around 7pm on Monday.

The two men, 60s and 30s, were treated for facial injuries in the Mater Hospital.

Three other men were arrested and are being detained in Bridewell Garda Station.

A garda spokesperson said the investigation is ongoing.

They said: "Gardai are investigating an alleged assault on two males (early 60s and early 30s) that occurred at approximately 7pm Monday 8th July 2019 on Capel Street, Dublin 1.

"Both males were taken to the Mater Hospital with facial injuries. 3 males (30s, 20s, 40s) were arrested and detained at Bridewell Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984. Investigations are ongoing."
