Two hospitalised after Rutherglen murder attempt

Two men have been hospitalised after a murder attempt in Rutherglen.

A 51-year-old and 27-year-old were rushed to Hairmyres Hospital following the incident in a pub car park on East Kilbride Road late last night.

Police have launched an investigation into what they describe as a murder attempt and a serious assault, and are appealing to the public for information.

A Police Scotland statement released this afternoon reads: "Detectives at Cambuslang are continuing enquiries and appealing for information after two men were seriously assaulted in Rutherglen on Sunday 8 December 2019.

"Around 10.40pm on Sunday evening, police were called to a report of a disturbance in the car park of a pub on East Kilbride Road, Rutherglen.

"Police and ambulance attended and the two injured men aged 51 and 27 years were taken by ambulance to Hairmyres Hospital.

"Enquiries are at an early stage and any witnesses, or anyone with information that may assist the investigation should contact Cambuslang Police Office through 101 quoting reference number 4250 of Sunday 8 December 2019. Alternatively Crimstoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 1111, where anonymity can be maintained."
