Two hospitalised after crash at busy Ayrshire retail park

A man and a woman were both hospitalised after a crash in Irvine yesterday.

The collision involved a female driver and a male pedestrian and it led to an entrance of the Riverway retail park's car park being sealed off for a period of time.

An eyewitness told Ayrshire Live: "There were a number of emergency service vehicles on the scene, at least a couple of ambulances.

"Traffic was being diverted away from the retail park, and from what I saw, there was no way into the car park near Tesco."

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were called around 9.55am on Wednesday, October 6, to a report of a crash involving a car and a pedestrian at the Riverway Retail Park in Irvine.

"The pedestrian, a man, and the car driver, a woman, have both been taken to hospital.”
