Two helicopters swoop on secluded loch during major incident in South Ayrshire

Emergency services have been searching a loch area during a major rescue operation this evening.

Two helicopters and a number of fire engines, ambulances and police vehicles raced to Loch Snipe outside the village of Coylton at about 6.35pm.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue boat was seen scanning the fishing loch - which is located about five miles from Ayr on the B742.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said a “ search and rescue operation is ongoing in the area.”

She did not confirm how many people crews were looking for at the rural spot.

The air ambulance and Coastguard search and rescue helicopters left the scene just after 7pm.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue spokeswoman said crews were in attendance at the “police incident.”
