Two held in Kolhapur for cheating woman

KOLHAPUR: Two people have been arrested by Kolhapur police for allegedly duping a woman of Rs 5.93 lakh over a period of three months in the year 2021 by promising to help her get the ex gratia amount of Rs 50,000 for the death of one of her relatives due to Covid-19.

The accused have been identified as Vikas Raghunath Bandal and Raghav alias Vilas Patil — both from Pune.

The woman lodged a police complaint against the accused duo at Shahupuri police station on April 21.

Upon verifying the complaint, police registered a case against the two under sections 420 (cheating), 406 (criminal breach of trust) and 34 (acts done by several persons with a common intention) of Indian Penal Code.
