Two hat-tricks for Nottingham Forest youngsters who run riot against Coventry City

Nottingham Forest Under-18’s put on a show in their final home game of the season with an emphatic 7-1 victory over Coventry City.

A pair of hat-tricks from Keith Asare and Will Swan with an Ethan Dekel-Daks goal in-between saw the Reds tighten their grip on third place in the Professional Development League.

However, the hosts got off to a sloppy start after conceding ten minutes in with a well taken finish.

This seemed to wake up Gareth Holmes’ side and they were level seven minutes before half-time.

After a period of pressure, their persistence was rewarded when Asare’s shot smashed off the post before going in off the ‘keeper.

Then a moment of magic lit up a blustery morning at the Nigel Doughty Academy.

Just seven seconds into the second-half, Dekel-Daks took aim from the halfway line and lobbed the ball over the aimless stretch of Coventry’s ‘keeper.

After that, two penalties in two minutes for the Reds resulted in Will Swan missing the first but scoring the second to give Forest a two-goal cushion.

Nottingham Forest boss Martin O'Neill given another injury boost as Tobias Figueiredo returns to action

After that, the Under-18’s moved through the gears and scored three goals in eleven minutes with Swan completing his hat-trick as he burst through the Sky Blues' defence and fired the ball into top corner.

However, Asare was not to be outdone and he completed a hat-trick of his own in added time after his driven shot hit the net from a tight angle.

The Under-18’s travel to Crystal Palace next week looking to end the season on a high.
