Two guards with rapper Juice Wrld arrested on gun charges after he suffered cardiac arrest at Chicago's Midway Airport

CHICAGO _ Two guards who were with rapper Juice Wrld when he suffered cardiac arrest at Midway Airport over the weekend were arrested after three guns were found, along with a high-capacity magazine and metal-piercing bullets, according to Chicago police.

Both were charged with misdemeanors after the Cook County state's attorney's office rejected felony charges, police said. Only one of the guards had a valid permit to carry guns in Illinois, but it is still illegal to possess them at airports.

Police and paramedics were called to a hangar at Midway operated by Atlantic Aviation around 2 a.m. Sunday when the 21-year-old rapper, whose real name is Jarad Anthony Higgins, went into cardiac arrest after arriving on a private jet, authorities said.

Higgins was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead about an hour later. An autopsy is scheduled for later Monday.

The rapper was with 10 or 12 people at the time, including associates, aircraft staff and the two security guards, Henry Dean, 27, from Chicago, and Christopher Long, 36, from California, police said.

Two 9mm pistols and a high-capacity magazine were taken from Dean, police said. A .40-caliber pistol suspected of belonging to Long was also found.
