Two Glasgow primary schools evacuated after hoax 'bomb threat' as cops launch probe

Two Scots primary schools had to be evacuated today after they received hoax 'bomb threats'.

Police have launched a probe into both incidents after Scotstoun Primary and Cadder Primary in Glasgow were targeted with "threatening" phone calls on Wednesday.

Emergency services attended the two schools and conducted a thorough search of the premises but did not find anything of concern.

It is understood primary school pupils had to be evacuated with parents being phoned due to the bogus call.

Staff at the schools were praised by cops for their "swift actions" as they quickly ensured the safety of pupils.

A Glasgow City Council spokeswoman told the Glasgow Times: “Two of our schools have received hoax calls this afternoon.

“Police have been in attendance and praised staff for their swift actions and who followed the correct procedures to ensure the safety of their children and staff and parents have been alerted.”

Police enquiries into the origins of both hoax threats are currently ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Officers are conducting enquiries into a threatening phone call received by a school in Duncan Avenue, Glasgow, on Wednesday, 23 June, 2021.
