Two further cases of Covid-19 confirmed at a Hamilton secondary school

Two more people at Holy Cross High School in Hamilton have tested positive for coronavirus.

Parents and carers were notified via the school app earlier on tonight (Monday, October 5) that NHS Lanarkshire's test and protect team have been carrying out contact tracing following the positive test results.

The individuals are currently self-isolating at home.

The letter from NHS Lanarkshire's interim health protection nurse consultant, Caroline Thomson, states that a review has been carried out and that "there is no evidence to suggest that there is transmission in the school."

It continues: "NHS Lanarkshire has been working closely with South Lanarkshire Council with regards to these cases and is in the process of contacting close contacts.

"Our test and protect team will continue to contact anyone who may be affected.

"The risk to the wider school community is low and the school will remain open as normal.

"I want to reassure you that NHS Lanarkshire and South Lanarkshire Council have carried out a full risk assessment and ongoing enhanced cleaning of the school building continues."

The school has been the subject of several positive cases of coronavirus over the last six weeks.
