Two friends win £4million on National Lottery scratchcard - but Camelot may not pay out prize

Doubt has been cast over £4million won by two friends on a scratchcard - despite them spending the past four days celebrating.

Pals Mark Goodram, 36, and Jon-Ross Watson, 31, hit the jackpot after buying a £10 scratchcard on Easter Monday.

However, the payout is on hold as Camelot investigate whose debit card they used to buy the ticket, at a Waitrose in Clapham, south London.

Neither of the pair, who are from Bolton, Greater Manchester, are said to hold a bank account - which is needed to have a debit card, The Mirror reports.

When asked whose card it was, they said they gave a friend called 'John' the cash to buy the ticket on his card.

Camelot officials are said to be confident that the scratchcard is legit, but want to ensure the debit card has not been stolen.

But even while the investigation continues, Goodram and Watson have been celebrating with champagne and cocktails.

Goodram told The Sun: "I’m off to see the Queen. This is brilliant. I deserved a bit of a break. We’re made for life.

"I can’t wait to spend the lot. I’m going to buy luxury properties and look after myself."

His pal Watson added: "This win’s unbelievable but we deserve the money fair and square. We were screaming in the street."

The National lottery has changed its draws: Here's what you need to know

A Camelot spokesperson told Mirror Online: "Security procedures form a key part of the process of validating a winning ticket to ensure we maintain the integrity of The National Lottery.

"Should there be any doubt surrounding the validity of a claim, we would undertake a thorough investigation to ensure we pay out the rightful ticketholder."
