Two former star NFL kickers crush Jets over their self-made mess of a kicking game

The New York Jets’ kicking game, to put it kindly, is a total mess.

On Tuesday the team cut Kaare Vedvik, who missed both of his kicks in the 17-16 Week 1 loss to the Bills, and added Sam Ficken, who was recently cut by the Green Bay Packers.

Ficken is now the fourth kicker the Jets have had since the start of training camp, which is ridiculous.

You might remember that the Jets had a Pro Bowl kicker in Jason Myers but former GM Mike Maccagnan, who was fired in May, opted not to re-sign him in the offseason.

Myers is now with the Seahawks and went a perfect 3-for-3 in Seattle’s win over the Bengals on Sunday.

A couple of former kickers, Lawrence Tynes, who won two Super Bowls with the Giants, and Jay Feely, a former Pro Bowler, crushed the Jets over their terrible decision to not bring back Myers:

Feely agreed:

Ficken, by the way, has only kicked in four NFL games in his career and is 3 of 6 with a long of 34 so, yeah, things could get even worse for the Jets.
