Leeds United outcasts make unexpected Thorp Arch comebacks ahead of Bristol City trip

Two of Leeds United’s outcasts have made their long-awaited returns to Thorp Arch some four weeks after their team-mates.

Forgotten midfielders Vurnon Anita and Ouasim Bouy were pictured at the club’s training ground on Monday, six days before the Championship season starts.

The Dutch pair spent last season on loan in their homeland, but remain surplus to requirements under head coach Marcelo Bielsa next term.

A long list of players not being considered by the Argentine are yet to be spotted at the training ground with their more favoured team-mates, who have been in training since late June.

Laurens De Bock, Yosuke Ideguchi, Conor Shaughnessy and Tom Pearce are among those who have been training away from Thorp Arch, unneeded by Bielsa.

On Monday, Bouy posted a video to his Instagram page of his Thorp Arch return which included Anita.

Anita has 12 months remaining on his United contract while Bouy still has two years left.

Moves away from Elland Road are still expected before the international transfer windows close for both players.
