A shocked householder found this snake under their kitchen sink

Imagine going into your kitchen cupboard and finding a snake.

Well, that's exactly what happened to one unsuspecting resident who had the shock of their life after finding a two foot long California kingsnake under their sink.

The RSPCA said the discovery was made at a home in Rhyl on Tuesday - and inspectors believing the reptile is an escaped pet.

It is the second snake found on the loose in north Wales - after a five foot stray python was found in Llandudno on May 7.

A two-foot California kingsnake was found underneath a sink at a property in Rhyl (RSPCA Cymru)

Dog looked like 'bag of bones' when found tied to stairs

Williams Galvin, RSPCA animal collection officer, said: "This snake is young and healthy and has been taken to a specialist centre while we make enquiries.

"Ite is more than likely an escapee, so we hope we can track down the owner quickly."

Guidelines issued by the RSPCA say snake owners should have an enclosure suitable for the species of snake they own and that the animal is kept secure and locked when unattended.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the RSPCA on 0300 123 8018.
