Two flood alerts have been issued for parts of Greater Manchester today as torrential rain is set to fall.
The Environment Agency has issued alerts for parts of the River Mersey in Stockport, Trafford and Tameside. The first alert covers the Middle River Mersey catchment including areas near Bramhall, Stockport, Sale, Altrincham and Urmston.
'Low lying land' is expected to be affected by the heavy rainfall with areas around Micker, Cringle, Sinderland and Poynton Brooks likely to be worst hit. Areas in Stretford, Gatley, Cheadle Hulme and Cheadle may also flood, according to the Environment Agency.

The second alert covers the River Mersey Uplands catchment including Hyde, Ashton-under-Lyne, Denton, Stalybridge and Glossop. Areas around the Rivers Goyt, Tame, Sett and Etherow are likely to be the worst hit.
A statement on the gov.uk website said: "River levels are forecast to rise on the River Mersey due to rainfall on Thursday 17/11/2022."
It added: "Further rainfall is forecast throughout the day tomorrow (17/11/2022) and as a result river levels are forecast to rise. We are monitoring rainfall and river levels and are checking rivers for blockages in the area.
"Avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses and do not attempt to walk or drive through flood water. This message will be updated by 04:00 PM on 17/11/2022, or as the situation changes."
The alerts were put in place after the Met Office issued a yellow weather warning covering our region today. The alert for heavy rain will be in place from midnight until 11.59pm - so will last the entire day.
Every borough will experience strong downpours with temperatures staying below double figures. The alert also covers parts of Yorkshire, Cumbria, Scotland and the south.
The Met Office warning states that homes and businesses 'could be flooded' with the possibility of some damage caused to buildings. Disruption is expected on some roads and on public transport due to the rain.
