Two flee house fire which started in upstairs bedroom in Carmarthenshire village

Firefighters battled a house fire in Carmarthenshire for two hours after it broke out in an upstairs bedroom.

The blaze happened at property in the village of Ferryside shortly before 8.50pm on Monday night.

The fire started in a bedroom at the two-storey, semi-detached house, and resulted in smoke damage throughout.

Fire crews from Kidwelly and Pontyates managed to extinguish the fire using a hose reel jet, four breathing apparatuses, two thermal imaging cameras and small gear.

They were at the scene for just over two hours, leaving the property at 10.59pm after ventilating the house and making the area safe.
