Two expensive sports cars on a Welsh road trip were stopped by police as they had no front plates

Two expensive sports cars were stopped from being driven on rural Welsh roads without front number plates because, according to the drivers, they fell off.

Police spotted a red Ferrari and a green Porsche being driven in the Crickhowell area of Powys on Thursday.

Both vehicles - a Ferrari 812 Superfast and a Porsche 911 GT3 RS - were not displaying any front number plates, something that is required by law.

According to a Google search one of the Ferraris would set you back around £260,000, with the Porsche costing around £150,000.

According to the UK Government, “number plates (also known as licence plates) must show your registration number correctly”, and people “could be fined up to £1,000 and if they drive with incorrectly displayed number plates”.

Vehicles without number plates would also fail an MOT test. The characters on a front number plate are also required by law to be a certain height and size, and must be black on a white backgound.

In Thursday’s incident in Powys, both cars were pulled over and, according to police, each driver claimed the number plate on their vehicle had fallen off.

Dyfed-Powys Police confirmed that both drivers were reported.
