Two elderly men hit by BMW outside Wetherspoons

Two men in their 70s have been taken to hospital after they were hit by a BMW on a main road in Southport last night.

The men were hit by a BMW at around 6pm near Sir Henry Seagrave Wetherspoon's on Lord Street in Southport on Thursday September 2.

The incident happened around 6pm last night with emergency services being called to the scene after reports of an RTC involving a BMW and two men.

The driver stopped at the scene with both men being taken to hospital for an assessment of their injuries.

Lord Street was reopened at 9pm.

A Merseyside Police spokesperson told the ECHO : "We can confirm that emergency services were in Southport following an RTC yesterday, Thursday 2 September.

"At around 6pm, reports were received of a collision between a BMW and two male pedestrians on Lord Street. The driver stopped at the scene.

"Both men were taken to hospital for assessment of their injuries and the road was reopened at 9pm.

"Anyone with information can contact us @MerPolCC with reference 839."
