Two due in court today charged with attempted murder of Glasgow police officer

Two men are expected to appear in the dock today charged with attempting to murder a Glasgow policeman.

A second man was charged last night after the officer was hit with a car during a plain-clothes investigation.

It's claimed the 36-year-old was driven at in Devonshire Gardens in the west end at 5.50pm on Tuesday.

The officer was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and treated for serious - but not life-threatening - injuries.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "Police Scotland can confirm that two men have been charged in connection with an attempted murder in Glasgow.

"The men, aged 30 and 53-years-old, were arrested following the incident, which happened around 5.50pm on Tuesday July 21 on Devonshire Gardens.

"Both men are due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court today."
