Two Dublin men have been left seriously injured following a car crash in New York that has already claimed the lives of two people.
An alleged drunk driver was arrested following the tragic collision in Clifton Park on Saturday.
Mayo man, 33-year-old John-John Heneghan and his American wife, 32-year-old Caitlyn Holtzman died when their vehicle was hit as they were stopped at a traffic light.
Templeogue native, Enda Crowley and Luke O'Doherty from the Castleknock area suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries in the crash.
A third passenger from the US, Julia Staples, was also seriously injured.
A 58-year-old man, Dickie R Winn, was arrested following the collision.
Both Dubliners work at Clune Construction Company - a national, employee-owned general contractor, with more than 500 professionals located in five offices across the U.S managing over $1 billion in construction projects annually.
Both men are based in the New York office.
Luke O'Doherty (25) has been working at the company for three years and currently holds the role of Project Superintendent.
Enda Crowley (31) is with the company for almost seven years working as Vice President, Senior Project Manager.
He was also named one of New York's top young professionals in 2018 by publication ENR New York described as leading "by example when it comes to continuing education, having completed advanced training in both project and contract management at New York University.
In a statement to Dublin Live, a spokeswoman for the company said:“We are devastated by the events of this past weekend and express our deepest condolences to the Heneghan/Holtzman family and all the people that were impacted by this tragedy.
"Clune wishes Julia, Enda, and Luke a speedy recovery while we are grieving for those we lost.”
"We do not have much information at this moment, but we appreciate the understanding of the family’s need for privacy and respect during this difficult time."
