Two Dublin men have been arrested after Gardai found a fully loaded weapon in a vehicle in the midlands.
Detective Gardai from Blanchardstown carried out a policing operation on Tuesday morning which led to the arrest of the pair in Westmeath.
A fully loaded semi-automatic Makorav handgun was recovered from the vehicle.
The duo were arrested with the assistance of the Emergency Response Unit in Rathowen, Co. Westmeath.

A spokesman for Gardai told Dublin Live: "The two males are detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939 as amended at Blanchardstown and Finglas Garda Stations."
He added: "Investigations are ongoing."
