Two drivers in hospital with serious injuries after three-way smash with coach in city centre

Two drivers are in hospital with serious injuries after a three-way smash with a coach in Manchester city centre.

The incident happened at around 5.30am this morning on Fairfield Street at the junction with Great Ancoats Street and Pin Mill Brow.

Emergency services rushed to the scene and a large police cordon was put in place as debris was left scattered across several roads.

A spokesperson said the North West Ambulance service sent three ambulances, two rapid response vehicles and an operational commander to deal with the incident.

The scene at a key junction into the city centre caused major disruption with long tailbacks on Ashton Old Road and congestions in the Northern Quarter.
